Other Stuff I have found on the net!

Water Skimming T-6's

I got these photos in an email talking about the team: "Flying Lions Aerobatic Formation Team", but don't really know anything about them except that they are incredible and hard to believe...  I did find a website for the team where you can find more photos, but nothing like these, here: http://www.flyinglions.co.za

UPDATE!  I found a vidoe on the net of the team doing the formation water skiiing...  Kinda hard to refute now...  See video here...

Here is a great optical illusion photo taken of a Lufthansa 747-400 and a United 757-200 that were on simultaneous approaches to runways 28L and 28R at San Francisco (SFO). The separation requirement for flying parallel and simultaneous approaches is 225 meters (about 750 feet).

These two aircraft are at a safe distance for the approaches t hey are each flying. Due to the 747 being three times larger than the 757, and being slightly behind, it gives this incredible optical illusion. Click for larger image...

Now THAT'S a bird strike!

Ouch.....  Here are photos of RH Horizontal Stabilizer of Navy T-44A aircraft out of Corpus Christi, TX after encountering what looks like a Pterodactyl!
T-44A 161058 suffered a bird strike to the R/H Horiz Stab during a routine training flight. The aircrew initiated an uneventful landing with no other damage noted to the aircraft. CNATRA DET has been notified.
Kinda makes you want to consider wearing a helmet, eh?

When I was a Task Group Commander based in Masirah, Oman during DESERT STORM and RESTORE HOPE, the local ROAF pilots (mostly ex-pat RAF pilots) would do some amazing antics with Jags around the base.  I had a chat with the Squadron Commander shortly after I arrived and we came to an "understanding" that while we enjoyed the airshow they would remain 500 ft from my aircraft and ground crews...  basically stay away from my piece of the ramp.  They complied and we made sure we brought them fresh pies from Diego Garcia during crew swaps or pizzas from Fujairah during ground pounder appreciation flights as a token of our appreciation.  I could just see attempting to explain why one of my aircraft was missing a vertical stab to the big guys...
